Not really an outrage, just a painful reminder just how old I am now that i remember what that fan art was originally. You’ll be surprised at how many people don’t even know what a walk man is.
The brownie with the white shirt: he seems a tiny bit too unarmed, unless he’s got some martial arts, which you wouldn’t deduce from his normal outfit.
Or maybe he just doesn’t count Bragga, maybe Big B is just there as backup/official enforcement but doesn’t actually take part in the take down (or something)
I’ve been wondering about him. He’s been unarmored and unarmed in all his appearances which includes rushing to fights in that state. Eager fight-lover that he is, I don’t think he’s doing so recklessly. He doesn’t seem the “religious” type, so he’s not a cleric like Rachel or Tamarra. For a guy his age, he’s pretty strong and spry. Some sort of monk without an order? A fighter who specializes in fighting unarmed?
All in all, I think he’s pretty badass.
Where’d you get the “General” part, Thom? I’ve been looking up and down the search results of his keyword.
He was one of the founders of Fightopia, but yeah, couldn’t really find anything either to explain who or what he used to be, not even to explain the medal on his chest
Oh, “candy” is a fine tradition of villainous temptations to victimhood. No doubt, I still get the creeps by this (some decades on): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUnhfvGdmmw
Not that the Kick-starter characters are ‘bad/poorly made’ per-say… I dunno. I just have a nagging feeling in the back of my head because of them that I can’t pin down.
I like the fact that these characters add depth and flavor to the guild. We know about a 15 of the most important figures, but learning who fills out the roster is nice. I don’t think they’ll receive anywhere near as much focus as the main cast, of course, and that’s how it should be.
I as well. They seem a mite fan-wanky, though I suppose that’s the only reason they’re here at all. Sparky there feels especially like a self-insert, given that she looks like she stopped by to do some adventuring on her way to a rave.
On reflection, though… this IS supposed to be an MMO game. These could just be the people who name their characters xXxTwilightSparkle96xXx, and actually use the joke cultural-reference costuming options. We can’t all roleplay like we’re hooked up via tube, right?
All the same, I prefer the “gruesome and pointless death in the background” style of kickstarter reward cameo.
I assumed I would feel that way, but the only time I actually have is at Karmakat’s name.
On the topic of unexpected awesomeness from backer-characters, I’m pleasantly surprised at Markus’ behavior. I was expecting his smartassed Eevil to continue, but this is even funnier!
I’m guessing they’re all PCs, and that their designs represent a certain City of Heroes-esque freedom to design your own character that often results in the “fan-wankery” some of you are griping about.
My thing with some of them is the wild colors of their clothing- mismatched and loud, sometimes seemingly inappropriate for their class. No offense to Astoria’s backer but Ms. Troy is an example of that for me. Tobias, the gnome battlemage, is okay and his mask is a nice touch. Isidro I find extremely well-designed and sleek.
That said, to be fair, my toons’ armor was pretty mismatched during my World of Warcraft days, a result of wearing gear with the best stats you could get even if their styles didn’t go well together.
Used to have that problem in EQ/EQ2, before they introduced dyes (in EQ) and Alternate Looks (in EQ2), same with DCUO: you have a ‘baselook’ or you can keep the appearance of the new gear (if you haven’t got the entire matching style yet)
Ahahaha, I love that last panel. And the four preceding it.
That said, I can’t help but feel that those “plans” were a bit too… convenient. Almost like they were meant to be planted on an “oops, Brother Markus ‘accidentally’ stabbed me in the back” dead cultist and left in the village to be discovered on purpose. A ruse to misdirect, or perhaps a means to lure more bodies to an Amberton ambush/ritual sacrifice.
Clearly Brother Markus and Astoria (she of the GigglePunches) just made a inadvertent love connection.
I await their coming nuptials with caustic glee.
(Also, who am I now?)
The threat of the cultists aren’t they themselves, rather, it is, that they:
1: Can strike relatively unnoticed. (They are noticed after they have had done their damage)
2: Have rather unconventional support. (E.G. the acid Frog or the aformentioned extradimensional horror)
3: Are zealots of every race, who are on average apparently very, very fanatic to their cause.
4: Their numbers aren’t known, and they won’t fight a conventional battle.
I wish I knew where Markus gets his confidence from. Drugs (ur-coke)? Zealotry? Rigid adherence to villain stereotypes?
AS A CULTIST, WHO MAY SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR HIS NOBLE CAUSE AT ANY TIME, ONE MIGHT EXPECT HIS FEAR OF DEATH AND/OR PAIN TO BE ≤ 0
A decent point.
I get the feeling the good brother’s bluff stats are not high.
That fan art. I’m having 80’s flashbacks. MAKE IT STOP!
I love it!!! Now they need a name. Bootylicious Lignt and Magic, anyone?
Technically not fan art, considering who made it… or?
Fanspired art: art inspired by fan comments :D
nah, that’s fan art
unless phill has been holding out on us on his history, of course
It’s truly, truly outrageous.
You could say it’s a real Jem of a picture.
Not really an outrage, just a painful reminder just how old I am now that i remember what that fan art was originally. You’ll be surprised at how many people don’t even know what a walk man is.
Yeah, the ‘disco ball’ bracelets and shoes will have that effect.
Heh, I’m kind of impressed they actually caught one alive.
Of course they caught one alive, Brother Marky Markus is a renegade Backkicker
“…Please give those back?” That was a halfhearted attempt if I’ve ever seen one!
4v1 kind of limits your whole ‘demanding’ options.
I really wonder what kind of an adventurer Colonnus is. Some sort of monk? And Isidro haz skillz; damn slick rogue.
And my new gravatar really depresses me…
Wow this guy is an idiot.
Hah! I knew I wasn’t the only one to think of Jubilee!
The brownie with the white shirt: he seems a tiny bit too unarmed, unless he’s got some martial arts, which you wouldn’t deduce from his normal outfit.
and apparently, he can’t count ;)
Or maybe he just doesn’t count Bragga, maybe Big B is just there as backup/official enforcement but doesn’t actually take part in the take down (or something)
GENERAL Colonnus just charged right in and grabbed the maul in the last page. He doesn’t seem too bothered by his weaponlessness.
Perhaps he doesn’t count himself in the 4, though?
I’ve been wondering about him. He’s been unarmored and unarmed in all his appearances which includes rushing to fights in that state. I’ll give you candy. That my friends, is one of the best villain lines ever IMHO

Also this avatar… I drew a poor hand it seems.
You’re not the only one. Mine depresses me.

Taste the Rainbow!
Rainbow SMITE?!?!? Frigg is gonna hurl… :D
Hey, the advantage of polytheism: polychromatic smite.
Actually, I think she is a mage. She punches you…with magic
That would explain the “H”ogwarts talbard.
Ahahaha, I love that last panel. And the four preceding it.
That said, I can’t help but feel that those “plans” were a bit too… convenient. (Also, who am I now?)
Ah Hmm I see, I have clearly posted too long…..and written nothing.
I begin to question Gravy’s assertion that the cultists are a huge threat.
the cultists themselves arent much of a threat,
gravedust refers to the extradementional horrors which will consume all of existence as the threat
They won’t be viewed as a legitimate threat until they strike directly at Gastonia or humans
