She’s not trying to kill him. That’s progress. Besides how well did Bandit get on with the five anyway? This falling out is a perfect excuse to cut ties to people she really didn’t like that much anyway.
How well?
She had no issues with Syr’Nj until this issue came in.
Since Byron believed in her she was tight with Byron (drowning prison comes to mind), until berserk-rekt.
She and Gravedust were very close.
Frigg is Frigg.
Best was out of this whole thing for so long I’m not sure they ever interacted, really.
And WAV’s Cyberia friends! I MUST KNOW.
They were named an everything for like, two? pages! I really thought they would have more to do with the final battle. :(
I’ve done a quick log of all characters that have appeared in multiple chapters (to make a minimum threshold), and I think I have the following list of those for whom we don’t have what could be a potential closed resolution, (?) means that it may be ended, it’s debatable:
The Five: Best, Gravedust(?)
The Allies: Fr’Nj, Sundar, Braggadocio, Bert the Brave, Rendar, Isidro, Saphora
Gastonia: Franzington, Micholuszek, Grand Marshal Jarvis(?), Mister Bedard, Admiral Annunziata(?), Keeper Kepfer
The World’s Rebellion: Cliff Rockslide, Ember Skycleaver, Snowpeak Icegrip, Stonecutter Moonchild, Auraugu, Madam Arfa(?), Goblaurence, Rana, Thunderpeak(?)
Bi’al Vez’k: Tay’lr, Timmi, Kon’kr, Oak’f, Faereksch,’Nj
Miscellaneous: Weo(?), Brother Ulak
Honestly, I like that Byron understands where Bandit is coming from.
“But she wants you dead!”
“I mean, honestly, until like a month ago so did I, so I can hardly blame her for that, can I”
Like, let’s not forget that in his death bubble Byron actually believed it was better for everyone that he remained dead for much the same reasons Bandit wants Byron dead, and was only convinced to leave by showing him that his monster was in fact still killing even with him dead. It’s just Byron now has new circumstances and information that Bandit would not actually believe.
It’s pretty classic in Raiding cultures that servant level people are captured and brought to a new place to serve other people all the time, so that’s a pretty reasonable assumption on their part.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read this… But I still think Bandit, for all of her virtues, is kind of an awful person. I get that we have a different view then her but her shift from respecting Byron to hating him from two incidents, neither of which were his doing and neither of which were his fault and both of which he was as much a victim as anyone, is kind of disgusting. He had something forced on him. He had something FORCED on him TWICE.
It’s like blaming a mind control victim in other fantasy stories. Good luck making that one fly.
So it seems like there’s not going to be any final reconciliation. Nuts.
Meanwhile, what’s going on with Best? (And Sundar? And Goblaurence and Auragu?)
She’s not trying to kill him. That’s progress. Besides how well did Bandit get on with the five anyway? This falling out is a perfect excuse to cut ties to people she really didn’t like that much anyway.
I think she got along fine with them except for the whole being killed part. She really wanted to feel like she belonged.
How well?

They didn’t, not as Best, anyway – she didn’t join the party until his ‘death’, and he was WAV until after she left.
And WAV’s Cyberia friends! I MUST KNOW.

List may be incomplete.
Maybe that glow in the last panel is Best. ;-)
All you orcs look the same to me!
Those have got to be the cutest orcs ever.
Oh wait; kiddy orcs dancing in joy for produce products. NM.

Yeah I like Byron’s pragmatism. “I’m surprised it’s not a more popular viewpoint!”
Bandit looks happy. I can accept this life for her now.
Paths are not equal
Some stretch out, ever winding on
But all lead us home
Walks are not equal
Some are short and bright like day
But all lead us home
Legs are not equal
Some are long, some are short but
They all take us home
Five eight five is close
But it doesn’t fit the form
That line, hard to fix
Wait, here’s an idea
“Some stretch on, ever winding”
Maybe that will work?
I swear that I looked
I must have been editing
And forgot later
“Ever” is the fiend
Your suggestion is well met
Make is so, I say
*Make it so
Never ask someone for a plunger while they’re trying to write. Very important rule.
The orcs look scared…probably think they’re being stolen, not freed.
It’s pretty classic in Raiding cultures that servant level people are captured and brought to a new place to serve other people all the time, so that’s a pretty reasonable assumption on their part.
Plus, shit was on FIRE, and now they’re with the nosy, noisy people that were setting shit on FIRE.
Or in Bandit’s case, shoulder to hip.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read this… But I still think Bandit, for all of her virtues, is kind of an awful person.
