Annotated 43-4
The title “Destiny” feels a little premature here. The team isn’t going to learn any of their destinies due to anything that happens in this chapter. But there is a bit of a “hand of destiny” at work in the sense that the Five have come together again, without any of them planning that exact reunion.
Oh, and now I realize what I should’ve said about this chapter at the start: it’s pretty much about adventuring groups coming together. You’ve got the Five in Arkerra, but you’ve also got the Xanna Posse in Sepia World, coming together to deal with a violent threat.
FB: “In today’s GUILDED AGE (DESTINY), some old LFG community members drift together.”
Had to travel back in time a few years to remember that stood for “Looking for Group” rather than “Let’s Fucking Go”
The annotation has disappeared?
I still see it…
Compare Syr’Nj’s reaction to seeing someone she thinks is dead, to Byron’s justified suspicion when the Cultists trotted out his ‘brothers’. Yeah, as a storyline that card had already been played, but she’s pretty trusting here.
Byron’s in Gravedust’s company, though, and cmoming out of a Sky Elf Portal, so it’s a lot more plausible than Byron’s brothers suddenly being reanimated. Also, Byron was just looking for an enemy he knew to be close, and expecting a trap.
If Byron started behaving unlike Byron, I bet she’d catch on to that pretty quickly, though.
