Annotated 44-6
Of course Goblaurence doesn’t know any other reason Magda would think of Gravedust as family, nor does he particularly care. He’s got a certain amount of respect for her, but he’s not too interested in anyone else’s emotional life beyond the needs of the moment.
I love how we zoom past the big revelation that the cover promises (who is the tiny prophet???) and go straight to the journey.
It’s also nice how quickly Syr’Nj and Penk start vibing off each other as soon as they realize they don’t need to be enemies. Penk nearly killed Syr’Nj the first time he met her, but she doesn’t hold a grudge about that sort of thing.
EDIT TO ADD: Yeah, I don’t know who the extra pedestrian in the last frame is either, sorry.
FB: The Pathfinder can handle snowy dirt paths, up to a dozen passengers and the weight of massive expectations, and offers cupholders, central heating and, most importantly, robust forward visibility. #GuildedAge #Hivework
I can’t figure out who the last figure trailing the group is? All five Peacemakers and all five Champions are accounted for. I guess it’s a Doggo.
I only count ten… looks like Goblaurence in the back, there?
No, it’s eleven. Up front is Frigg lugging Best: two figures in a single silhouette. Goblaurence is next to Rana.
Yeah. From left to right I see Gravedust, Magda, Byron, mystery figure, Syr’Nj, Best(dragged by), Frigg, Penk, Goblaurance, Rana, and lastly Auraugu.
And about your theory about mystery figure being a doggo, it definitely has a similar fur pattern to the wolves, but zooming in it appears to have arms, atleast one of which is holding an ax. Though I admit that could be my brain just misinterpreting details
I keep thinking of madame Arfa for some reason, although it makes no sense that she would be here. It could be Auraugu, but then who’s walking next to Goblaurence and Rana?
It could also have been Weo, but the figure’s a bit too large for that, and I think he’s walking ahead, not behind them.
Maybe it’s meant to be some pile of snow or some other stuff?
After going back in the archives I can confirm that the 11th individual there doesn’t seem to be someone that actually comes with the group. Perhaps it’s a holdover from the “Rachel” Wolf that T mentioned a page or so back?
Yup – the Rachel wolf is on 44-3, caught in the avalanche between Best and Syr’nj. Which is also where T mentions the cut plans for it.

well spotted — that makes complete sense.
I’d love the idea of Frigg having her own Doggo, but I’d really dislike the idea of naming it “Rachel” … unless the Doggo had a huge change of character (well beyond being tamed by Frigg), that name would not fit. Also very at odds with Rachel’s role in the group.
Makes as much sense as anything else! Now that I think of it, I dimly remember some discussion like this when the page first aired, but I don’t know if we concluded anything then, either.
It looks very much like the Rachel-wolf to me. It’s only showing the front half: Head, torso and the right front leg (and since the paw is rather large, that can easily be confused with a regular arm holding a weapon). Hind legs and tail are out of the frame. Those things are massive, I guess about Battle Cat sized. Just see 43-18 for a nice size comparison with both Frigg and Byron.
