Looking for Group, if you like this kind of comics you should check it out. From Ryan Sohmer and Lar Desouza (Im sorry if I wrote it wrong) the same guys that make Least I could do.
All the best assholes are really good at something; that way you can’t just dismiss them out of hand. They don’t get to level up to World Class Asshole unless there actually is some reason to keep them around, so that people who would ordinarily have left them pantsless in a ditch are forced to keep putting up with them.
I appreciate that Best gets to demonstrate why you always want bards/pipers on your side: it’s a lot harder for the enemy to fight effectively if you’re getting right up on their last nerve.
All the best assholes are really good at something; that way you can’t just dismiss them out of hand. They don’t get to level up to World Class Asshole unless there actually is some reason to keep them around
Another example that comes to mind is Mike Warner from It’s Walky! and Shortpacked! He’s an even bigger asshole than Payet, in that he specifically looks for every opportunity he can find to insult (crudely) and prank people. He’s also one badass fighter (for the good guys’ side) and although it’s never been explained exactly how, it seems not even death could stop him. Yeah, I’d want him on my team too, no matter how many times he claimed to have done my mom. :-)
Also he’s really good at being an asshole, often when an asshole is exactly what is needed. [SPOILERS ENSUE] I mean, his death scene in It’s Walky! was basically like this — he distracted the bad guys just long enough for someone to do something vaguely awesome that I have forgotten, and the best part was the way he had the same “I’m pissed off but I don’t care what you’re doing look” he always has as he was being obliterated. And his shenanigans after Amber’s visit to her internet boyfriend certainly untangled a lot of the unresolved sexual tensions, which was just what everyone needed. Well, maybe except for Ethan.
Also, he’s often an asshole given to perceptiveness and insight. A number of times in Shortpacked! he’s called people, who consider themselves on the opposite end of the morality scale to him, out on their own manipulativeness and general assholery.
I should mention, before anyone brings it up, that I’m not saying it’s okay to go around being an asshole in real life. Clearly, it isn’t okay, which is why most of us are not assholes most of the time. But yeah, there are times when a stick is more helpful than a carrot (e.g. if your drunk friend won’t listen when you ask him to hand over his car keys, it’s better to be an asshole and grab the keys by force than to be “nice” and let him drive in that condition).
Ignorance of the fact that the majority of people ARE “assholes” most of the time doesn’t make it any less the case.
All it means is that you probably don’t know when you’re being that way… which is vastly more worrying than the contrary.
Frigg looks torn between being impressed and wanting to beat Payet upside the head. I mean, he is interrupting her ass kicking by dancing with her. Of course, he did pull her out of the way of a rather nasty swing. I mean, I don’t like Payet, but that’s kinda hot.
I hope Byron wakes up soon and does some asskickery >.<
It hadn’t occurred to me before, but maybe Best isn’t all that bad of a guy. He’s just utterly convinced he’s the hero of prophecy, which gives him both incredible confidence and incredible douchbaggery.
In the last panel, what’s that at the left side of Frigg’s b…torso? Are that… Payet’s fingers? Bit pointy for fingers, but eh, at least Frigg is wearing plate, else she wouldn’t be smiling – at least not until she broke each of his fingers individually at 3 differents points.
Awesome.
Now… half of me wants to see “Sir WorldChampion of Ãœbarland” to get smacked in the head. 3/4 of me wants to see that actually, and then the last part wants to see him own that giant. Hmm.
Please tell me that is going to be an official pairing. I see so many possibilities. They would definitely have a decidedly tumultuous relationship.
I must say, despite being a mjaor Jerk***, I do kinda like him. I mean, it’s a real shame the nice guy he used to be got buried under his major ego trip, but it’s quite possible that nice guy is still in there somewhere (see ‘What we are inside’). Heres hoping!
Awwww, Frigg and “His Hotness” are so cute together.
You know…this would be the perfect time for “Slash to the Kidneys” ala Bandit. Sneak Attack, FTW!
That’s some good rhyming. I like how this comic is more mature than others like LFG or Order of the Stick, and doesn’t go for cheap jokes all the time
I like this comic too but I can never get enough cheap jokes: whats LFG?
LFG is one of the funnier WebComs out there. Be prepared to love Dick.
Chicken!
RyLar SohmDe are possible the only two that could ever get me to like Dick. Dunno what Grug has against it. A good Webcomic is a good webcomic.
Then again, this is coming from someone who did an english paper on LFG….
Flea, the link in my name will take you to it.
lfg kinda sucks
since no one has yet to even answer your question, LFG is Looking For Group, a webcomic
geez, it took the internet five years to actually answer! That’s really disappointing, guys!

I like that the comic gives a jerk like Best a chance to shine. Like he’s *almost* worthy of his unearned glory.

Frigg looks impressed
Love Frigg in last panel.
Frigg looks torn between being impressed and wanting to beat Payet upside the head. I mean, he is interrupting her ass kicking by dancing with her. Of course, he did pull her out of the way of a rather nasty swing. I mean, I don’t like Payet, but that’s kinda hot.

heheh
i love the sound effects in this comic.
More! More! [sound of crowd roaring]
*Notes the last panel.*
*Pukes.*
I guess manly-girls aren’t entirely immune to the charm of girly-men.
The power of the rhyme has been well established over time:
“Stop that now, I mean it!”
“Anybody want a peanut?”
“ARRGH!”
Thank you, the same scene came to mind. Must’ve been the giant…
Also, this;
“Must you always talk in rhyme?”
“If I spoke prose, you’d all find out /
I don’t know what I talk about!”
Damnit, MajorPhilosophy beat me to it! :D
Obviously, the way to Frigg’s heart is through someone else’s rib cage
Gold.
Gotta love a shit elf’s rap.
Man I’m slow. Just realized Payet was fighting with some sort of luth-axe, and how awesome that weapon actually is.
It hadn’t occurred to me before, but maybe Best isn’t all that bad of a guy. He’s just utterly convinced he’s the hero of prophecy, which gives him both incredible confidence and incredible douchbaggery.
If I were Best, I’d be careful being quite so forward with her… After all, she’s packing Mace.
Bellyshirt is actually pretty handy in a fight. Who woulda thunk it.
Smooth moves
Frigg is amused for the moment. You will be allowed to keep your limbs, for now.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to de-limb someone with a mace?
I’m sure Frigg is willing to put in a little overtime to get the job done right.
Seems like a fine use of Perform (Dance) and Perform (Epic Poetry) to use the Bardic Inspire ability. Best deserves bonus XP for this fight.

Do I see romance? FRIGG ROMANCE?!…
i see it but i dont believe it. all i can do is agree with Bavette
OMG FRIGG ROMANCE?!?!?!
Romance? from what I have seen of Frigg, I very much doubt it’s romance, but a lusty night in the sack? that I can see quite easily :D
Eh why not, there has been worse couples !,,,,, ;) :) {*v*} :P :D
I dunno that look on frigg looks more like a “I’m gonna enjoy removing this bards hands. Followed by his tongue…
vensini: no more rhymes now i mean it!
fezzic: anybody want a peanut?
vensini: AAAUGH!!
I can’t believe it. I actually had “Hammer to Fall” on the radio when reading this comic!!!
YEEEEEEAAAAAAH
[Taunt Check]: SUCCESS!
=D
