She should have left the bluffing to Scipio. No one can detect the true motives of someone with a squint like that.

Well it’s not like it would be a good idea to swing the mace and go for distance on one of their hats right now. She plainly doesn’t see eye to eye with them and what else has she got to work with?

True anything else would seem a bit underhanded, and that’s on the level that they apparently see Bandit at. Wouldn’t want to lower themselves any further in the eyes of the gnomes. I wonder why the gnomes always seem to look down on other races though. It’s like they’re compensating for something.

It’s not about the lie. She’s shouting to ensure both the crowd’s attention and to make so much noise nobody see’s Bandit. Look at panel 4: Bandit is within earshot and clearly visible from the crowd. But as long as all eyes and ears are on this loud stupid and obviously lying human, nobody is actually watching the aforementioned and apparently well known in this area Bandit Keens. That dude is getting such a great stealth bonus right now.

      Two issues:
One, gnomish devices/casters can seriously level the playing field.
Two, we know any outburst of actual violence will be seen by Ardaic and his fellow authorities as a serious cock-up. In times of war allies can’t afford to be literally at each other’s throats.
