At first I found it odd that Gobularence could so easily identify Best after all these years, but then again I doubt the torching of the Don’s mansion was subtle. Hell he probably wrote a book with a chapter on that particular deed.

Just thought of something. There are theories that Penk is run by our Sepia world Hacker counterpart of similar physical features. If fan theories that characters run on autopilot with people offline and people RP them online… Does Penk resist outright violence to the Peacemakers due to IRL knowledge of their situation?
Sepia folk have directly commented on their characters doing stuff while they’re offline, no fan theory there. Rachel getting deleted, for instance, happened while Lia was asleep.
I’d honestly find it really humorous for Best and Byron to just be rolling on top of each other throughout a parley, continuing the conversation depending on who’s on top. My sense of humor is terrible yet simple.

I read that more as skepticism that the mission was going to be as easy as it seemed to be going.
