Although to amend to that, most systems of slavery didn’t really have any particular baggage concerning racial inferiority or anything like that. No such justification was needed. Some people are slaves, others are not. When you have no concept of human rights you don’t need to get fancy about it.
Indeed for a good portion of our history we kept people of our own race as “Thralls” Which was a pretty much a slave. Although Thralls were typically Europeans taken by Vikings. They were also other vikings that were conquered by rival tribes.
And African slaves were originally enslaved or enthralled by other tribes who could raid towns and villages that were weaker then them. It was more a power thing than a racial thing at that time. Though I have no doubt SOME slave owners held a “I am better than x because x”.
Slaves were often spoils of war; they were captured property. The Spartans, for instance, kept slaves as matters of conquest and military supremacy, not racial or cultural. “You’re not beneath us because you’re Phoenician, you’re beneath us because you lost like a chump.”
I’m not really sure the World’s Rebellion has ever played the moral superiority card. I could be wrong but most of what I got was “Gastonia has stolen, lied, butchered and otherwise done it’s best to take anything it wants from us. Enough is enough, they had their chance to talk their way out of a war.”
How do you caliber the evildar/wrongdoing detector for someone who’s the standard definition of Evilâ„¢, Chaos and Wrongdoing Inc. for most devices and spells?
There’s a lot she’s had to turn a blind eye to as part of the war effort and seriously these orcs would be slaves under Gastonian rule they’d just call it something more civilized.
It has been mentioned that the Savasi have always been a warlike race. It’s not a stretch to say that such a culture would not be averse to ‘making use of’ races their view as martially inferior. As the current generation of a culture sliding further into warmongering, its possible Magda doesn’t view this as askew at all. After all she does seem the most likely of the Champions to speak up if she saw a injustice.
Hmm, so the leader, the elementalist and the tank are here. Supplement with two spiritualists, a druid, a crusader, a fighter and a… whatever WAV is. Nine person group right there. Sounds like a Raid!
Screams NOT coming from the slaves we’re working to death at least!
So important ones!
Goblaurence would be having a fit if the slaves were being worked to death.
Wasteful.
Penk might have a fit if there were slaves period. Unless I’m horribly mistaken, I thought the “savage races” didn’t roll like that.
Huh, taskmaster with a whip. I guess they do. *sigh*
Orcs in this world are fairly chill and passive, so naturally they get taken advantage of.
we know trolls keep slaves – the guilds first meeting with them had to do with trying to free some orc slaves :p
Goblaurence would only have that sort of fit once. Any more than that would be a waste.
We are the World’s Rebellion! Peace and Freedom for all the downtrodden!..Except these slaves we keep cause we think they lower then us
We went several thousand years in the real world having absolutely no problem with that sort of double think.
It’s not particularly surprising.

Probably: “I am better than that enslaved tribe, because I am not a slave.”

Just the patriarchal assumption that females must be enslaved to pay for their male relatives debts.
In an economy based on trade in goats and virgins, you’d think goats would be the better currency; they keep their resale value.
That depends on what they want the goats for.
So is a Virgin goat worth twice as much?

…I wonder when the last time was that Magda actually stopped and looked around at where she was and what everybody around her was doing.
There’s a lot she’s had to turn a blind eye to as part of the war effort and seriously these orcs would be slaves under Gastonian rule they’d just call it something more civilized.
The Gastonians actually tried that earlier. Mama Bear disagreed, helped the orcs run away, and the Silver Centurion executed her.

Hammerhead’s statement can be both flirting and a threat. Such is the way with landsharks.
I’m now trying to thing of the equivalent for Bow Chicka Wow Wow for Land Sharks…
Chomp Gnasha Nom Nom?
Booow chiiicka – LOK TAR!
Land sharks get fatigued all the time.
They’re smart enough not to mention their weakness to their brothers.
Once Hammerhead realizes he’s being exploited there’s gonna be hell to pay…and eat.
Is this a Mine Craft reference?
No one has tried to build a giant penis yet, so no, not a minecraft reference.
Penk can hear screams even from inside that giant helmet? Clearly Magda needs to clean out her ears.
Or perphaps Penk’s got some kinda super hearing.
The helmet is actually attuned to faint vibrations and echoes them to his ears. He is a Bard afterall. Master of all things sound based.
I was just thinking how weird it is that Penk can hear well after a career as a war drummer – that job is NOT typically good for the ears.
I’m pretty sure he also has boosted senses since his elevation to Avatar of Tectonicus.
Actually, there are no screams. The helmet is kind of like a conch shell. You just hear shit while wearing.
Hammerhead, you disappoint me. A true gourmand can make a meal out of anything!
He’s not a carbosilicate amorph, and even they’d find rocks a bit rough to swallow.
No one listens! Won’t they feel stupid when they try to bite them and have to shift up a new row of teeth?
Hmm, so the leader, the elementalist and the tank are here. Supplement with two spiritualists, a druid, a crusader, a fighter and a… whatever WAV is. Nine person group right there. Sounds like a Raid!
So…………no one thought through the slave illustrations? Who are they, anyway?
Orcs.
The Penksignal ! Quick, Magdagirl, to the penkhorse !
Tecton senses are tingling!
I misinterpreted this comic the first time, I thought it was *screams* rather than “screams”.
So like, as if what he saw in the distance was someone giving out signed copies of guilded age, and he needed to be at the front of the queue
Also…. HAMMERHEAD is going to be Vin Diesels voice from now on.
I am reminded of the scene where the little girl asks if Riddick is going to save them from the monsters.
what kind of response do you expect when you “no balls” THE land shark?
