Screams NOT coming from the slaves we’re working to death at least!
    So important ones!

Goblaurence would be having a fit if the slaves were being worked to death.

      Wasteful.

Penk might have a fit if there were slaves period. Unless I’m horribly mistaken, I thought the “savage races” didn’t roll like that.

Orcs in this world are fairly chill and passive, so naturally they get taken advantage of.

we know trolls keep slaves – the guilds first meeting with them had to do with trying to free some orc slaves :p

Goblaurence would only have that sort of fit once. Any more than that would be a waste.

We went several thousand years in the real world having absolutely no problem with that sort of double think.

      It’s not particularly surprising.

Although to amend to that, most systems of slavery didn’t really have any particular baggage concerning racial inferiority or anything like that. No such justification was needed. Some people are slaves, others are not. When you have no concept of human rights you don’t need to get fancy about it.

Indeed for a good portion of our history we kept people of our own race as “Thralls” Which was a pretty much a slave. Although Thralls were typically Europeans taken by Vikings. They were also other vikings that were conquered by rival tribes.

And African slaves were originally enslaved or enthralled by other tribes who could raid towns and villages that were weaker then them. It was more a power thing than a racial thing at that time. Though I have no doubt SOME slave owners held a “I am better than x because x”.

Probably: “I am better than that enslaved tribe, because I am not a slave.”

Slaves were often spoils of war; they were captured property. The Spartans, for instance, kept slaves as matters of conquest and military supremacy, not racial or cultural. “You’re not beneath us because you’re Phoenician, you’re beneath us because you lost like a chump.”

In an economy based on trade in goats and virgins, you’d think goats would be the better currency; they keep their resale value.

I’m not really sure the World’s Rebellion has ever played the moral superiority card. I could be wrong but most of what I got was “Gastonia has stolen, lied, butchered and otherwise done it’s best to take anything it wants from us. Enough is enough, they had their chance to talk their way out of a war.”

There’s a lot she’s had to turn a blind eye to as part of the war effort and seriously these orcs would be slaves under Gastonian rule they’d just call it something more civilized.

The Gastonians actually tried that earlier. Mama Bear disagreed, helped the orcs run away, and the Silver Centurion executed her.

It has been mentioned that the Savasi have always been a warlike race. It’s not a stretch to say that such a culture would not be averse to ‘making use of’ races their view as martially inferior. As the current generation of a culture sliding further into warmongering, its possible Magda doesn’t view this as askew at all. After all she does seem the most likely of the Champions to speak up if she saw a injustice.
